Smart Task Selection

The algorithm doesn't just sort your list — it weighs multiple factors to find the optimal task for right now. It balances urgency with sustainability, so you're always working on what actually matters.

Urgency & importanceUrgent and important things rise to the top
Deadline proximityDue tomorrow beats due next month
How long it's been waitingOld tasks get a boost so nothing rots
Joy ratingBalances dreaded tasks with enjoyable ones
Time availableOnly shows what actually fits
Billable vs. admin workClient work can outweigh internal tasks

You customize the weights. The algorithm adapts to how you work.

How It Works

1

Add your tasks — with the details that matter

Each task gets an urgency level, importance level, deadline, time estimate, joy rating, category, and billable status. These aren't just labels — they're what the algorithm uses to find your best task.

2

Tell it how much time you have

Got 15 minutes before a meeting? A free afternoon? Frogcake only shows tasks that actually fit your window. No scrolling past 3-hour projects when you have 20 minutes.

3

The algorithm picks your best task

Urgency, importance, deadline, how long it's been waiting, your joy rating, available time — the algorithm weighs it all and serves up the single best thing to work on. Not a sorted list. One task.

4

Start the timer and go

A countdown timer keeps you focused and aware of time passing. When you're done, mark it complete and the algorithm picks the next one. That's the loop.

Why “Frogcake”?

There's a saying attributed to Mark Twain: “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” The idea: do the hard thing first.

But sometimes you need the opposite — start with something you enjoy, build momentum, and ride that energy forward. That's “eating the cake.”

Frog + Cake = Frogcake.

The algorithm is the default — it finds the best task automatically. But if you want to override it, you can choose Eat the Frog (hardest first) or Eat the Cake (easiest first). Your call.
